It always pays off to have a plan. A strategy. Specific steps you have to do in order to reach your goal. It gives you feedback whether you’re on track or off track. Yet, that will not always work out…
When the goal is too far, too hard to reach or too important, your best bet becomes the “Brute Force” strategy. You’ve got to use every weapon in your arsenal, close your eyes and have faith that the best is going to come (regardless of what it is).
While it takes all your energy, Brute Force pays off.
Use it carefully.
The road is undefined and hard. Guidance is scarce since it’s your quest. You might get lost. You might even forget who you are, who you want to become. Your goals might become vague. Changing the world is an overwhelming task. Having a myriad of options, getting lost is eminent.
I’d say go back to basics. Go back to certain principles that you know about how the world works. Go back to those things about you that you love, appreciate and think that they define who you are the most.
Most importantly, have the courage to work up from there and commit yourself to certain actions and decisions that you feel come out from who you really are.
To start with, you get a life.
To start with, you get a soul. Hopes. Dreams. Passion. Love. Compassion.
To start with, you get a body. Muscles. Neurons. Arms. Legs. A heart.
You might be thinking “Well then what?! Everybody has these.” But you’d be missing the point.
The point is what you can do out of what YOU have?!
Einstein changed the way we see the world.
Malcolm Gladwell changed how we think about thinking.
Abraham Lincoln freed millions from slavery.
Steve Jobs changed the way we listen to music.
Seth Godin changed how we see the new economy.
Clayton Christensen changed how we see startups.
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi changed how we see the things we enjoy.
Elon Musk is changing the way we drive cars.
Bill Gates is changing facts about third world countries.
To start with, they all got a life.
The point is “What are YOU going to change?”
How long are u going to avoid the quest?
In our societies where mediocrity is near, it’s easy to forget your quest for an extraordinary (worthy) life.
Hard as it is, you ignore it as it brings more entropy than harmony to your mind. You try to forget.
You try to get involved In the pre-drawn map. Eventually finding anguish, you wonder why.
Avoiding your quest will not make it disappear. It is already embarked on your soul. Think of it as a curse (gift). Think of it as an itchy spot on your skin. It will always be there asking you to pursue it. Attending to it (no matter how hard) will get in the FLOW!
Indeed you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions: knowing that your short time here on this earth has been well spent, and that it all mattered.
Jim Collins – Good To Great
Unfortunately our societies don’t appreciate artists of your kind (status quo painters) as long as they are painting their art. Yet, once you’re finished everyone will be mad about you. Awkwardly, our society is based on a system where fit-ins don’t get noticed and heretics are glorified.
I know that most of the people don’t value what you do. Some of them might think it is a waste of time.
I know it is hard to push forward, to stay focused.
Once you get your art done, people who now think you’re a underachiever will look up to you. Once you change the status quo, your name will be carved in the history books. No one can erase it then.
No one said it will be easy, but damn it will be worth it!
Why do we have to go through all the hardships to find who we really are?
Why didn’t the school try to help us?
Why does it seem like it doesn’t matter that we are searching for ourselves?
Why is everyone trying to mutter the answer? or even avoid the question?
Why is everyone trying to erase themselves and turn into what they are told to be? Why does it seem so awkward that I’m trying to find who I am?
What if you persisted through all the hardships?
What if you took all the kicks and kept going and did not falter?
What if you knew who you are meant to be?
What if you win the fight?
If you’re still waiting for your loved ones to believe in you; STOP!
If you’re still waiting for the push from the people around you; STOP!
If you’re still looking for societal acceptance of your dream; STOP!
If you’re still waiting for your idea to go viral; STOP!
If you set out to change the world, no one will believe that you can. Not because they are bad, just because they are NOT you!
Have the courage to have the undeniable, unshakable and unregrettable faith in you!
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do!
